Dr Vinura Wickramasinghe - A/L Physics & Electrical/Electronics Engineering (UG) Tutor

I'm Dr Vinura Wickramasinghe, an Electrical Engineer (MIET) with a PhD from the University of Surrey, UK. Since 2022, I've taught electronics and electrical engineering laboratory modules at university level, guiding undergraduates through the same core concepts that trip up so many A/L and university students, including circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics fundamentals.

Alongside teaching, my research background spans solar cell technology and power systems engineering, including work on improving solar cell efficiency and developing methods to detect faults in power lines. I currently work as an R&D Engineer, applying electrical and electronics engineering to real-world renewable energy problems. It's work I love, and it directly shapes how I teach, because I bring genuine industry and research experience into every lesson, not just textbook theory.

I had actually stepped back from tutoring to focus on this R&D role, but the sheer number of requests from students and parents made it clear there was a real need I could keep meeting. So I've continued to offer a limited number of online tutoring slots at affordable rates alongside my full-time work.

My approach is simple. Build real understanding, not memorisation. Whether it's an A/L Physics student aiming for university entrance or an undergraduate wrestling with electrical engineering coursework, I focus on breaking down difficult concepts into clear, logical steps, connecting theory to practical, real-world applications, and building the problem-solving confidence needed for exams and to practice real engineering in career and beyond.

Parents can expect a tutor who is patient, structured, and genuinely invested in progress, not just grades. Students can expect lessons that make sense the first time, with an engineer who's spent years explaining these exact concepts to university students and knows where the confusion usually happens.
