I am proud of my experience as a maths tutor, particularly the progress my pupils have achieved. In the primary school where I currently tutor, 83% of children passed their SATs, a significant improvement compared to the 50–60% pass rate before I began supporting them. This success reflects not only the effort of the children but also my commitment to adapting my teaching to meet their individual needs. I strongly believe that every child learns differently, so I personalise my tutoring to suit their preferred style of learning, whether it is through visual aids, practical examples, or step-by-step explanations. My approach is patient, encouraging, and structured, giving children the confidence to tackle mathematical challenges with a positive mindset. I always focus on building strong foundations, ensuring they fully understand key concepts before moving on, while also stretching those who are ready for more advanced material. I make lessons interactive and engaging, often linking maths to real-life contexts so that children can see the value and application of what they are learning. One of my key strengths is the ability to break down complex ideas into simple, manageable steps, which helps to reduce anxiety and foster independence in problem-solving. I am approachable and create a supportive learning environment where children feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. This combination of tailored teaching, encouragement, and high expectations has helped children not only achieve excellent results but also develop greater confidence and enjoyment in maths.
