About My Maths Lessons
My Background I'm an online maths tutor helping students build both skill and confidence in maths, from primary school through GCSE / basic arithmetic through algebra. I specialize in helping students who feel "stuck" or anxious about maths finally understand why things work — not just how to get the right answer.
Lesson Format
Length & frequency: Sessions typically run [45–60 minutes], once or twice a week depending on the student's goals.
Platform: Lessons take place over [Zoom/Google Meet], using a shared whiteboard so we can work through problems together in real time, just like sitting side-by-side.
Structure: Each lesson usually follows a simple rhythm:
Quick recap of the previous topic (5 min)
Introduction of the new concept, explained visually and step-by-step
Guided practice — we solve problems together before the student tries independently
A short recap and light homework to reinforce the concept
Teaching Dynamics
I focus on understanding over memorization — using real-life examples, visuals, and analogies so concepts actually click.
I encourage students to think out loud and explain their reasoning, which helps me catch misunderstandings early and helps them build genuine problem-solving skills.
Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities, not failures — I create a relaxed, judgment-free space where students feel comfortable asking questions.
I adapt my pace and style to each student — some need more repetition, others need more challenge, and I adjust accordingly.
I track progress over time and regularly share feedback with parents, so everyone stays informed.
What Makes My Lessons Different Rather than rushing through the curriculum, I make sure each concept is solid before moving on. My goal isn't just passing the next test — it's helping students develop a genuine, lasting understanding of maths and the confidence to tackle problems on their own.
