I recently finished a three year course with the National Children’s Orchestra and am now playing with the National Youth Orchestra as an associate. I have also participated in many music courses in the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and The Guildhall School of Music. I am of grade 8 level.
I have experience teaching small classes of young children
I am able to do online lessons and in person from my home.
For absolute beginners, I first start with the basics. I believe that these first few techniques are required as they become the building blocks of every violinist. Many go back to these techniques learnt very early on to ground their playing and enhance their performance in every aspect.
I am open to adjusting lessons for each student. Sometimes children of younger ages may feel unmotivated to learn something without a defined end point or progress seen instantaneously, so I will give a short break in between lessons depending on how the lesson is progressing and do my best to motivate them to continue playing outside of lessons (as this time is crucial for developing their own sound and character as a musician).
Music has shaped me as a person, and given me joy. Through music I have gained confidence, made many new friends and found a passion for the arts. I think it is a real shame that schools have reduced time on music as it is an art form that allows us to define ourselves and express our emotions. I am doing this so others can enjoy music too.
