Vera Oliveira

Hello! My name is Vera and I am a native Portuguese speaker from Portugal, currently living in Scotland.

I have many years of experience working with children and supporting people of different ages and backgrounds. I currently work in a primary school in Scotland, supporting children with different learning needs. I also have professional training in Family and Community Support, including working with children and older people.

My Portuguese lessons are friendly, relaxed and adapted to each student’s individual needs. I believe that learning a language should be enjoyable and practical, so I like to use real-life situations, conversation and everyday vocabulary to help students feel confident using Portuguese naturally.

Whether you are a complete beginner, want to improve your conversational Portuguese, need help with pronunciation and vocabulary, or are learning Portuguese for travel, work, family or simply for the pleasure of learning a new language, I will adapt the lessons to your goals and your own pace.

As a native speaker from Portugal, I teach European Portuguese and can also help students understand Portuguese culture, expressions and the way the language is actually spoken in everyday life.

I am patient, approachable and supportive, and I understand that everyone learns differently. There is no pressure to be perfect! Mistakes are a natural and important part of learning a language.

My aim is to create a comfortable environment where you can practise, ask questions and gradually become more confident speaking Portuguese.
