My lessons are engaging, structured, and always tailored to the needs of each learner. I like to begin with a short recap of prior knowledge to build confidence and provide context, followed by clear explanations of new concepts using a mixture of visuals, real-life examples, and questioning to ensure understanding.
I use a variety of formats depending on your needs—this may include short interactive presentations, worked examples, practical demonstrations, discussion-based learning, or guided problem-solving. For younger students or those with SEND, I make lessons highly interactive, breaking topics into small, manageable steps with plenty of encouragement and opportunities to practise. For older students, I emphasise exam technique, application of knowledge, and independent thinking skills.
My content covers the full Science curriculum, with special expertise in Biology, but I am confident teaching all three Sciences up to GCSE level. Using past paper questions for GCSE students is an effective way of testing your knowledge and understanding including application skills.
I will also draw on my experience in SEND settings, ensuring lessons are inclusive, personalised, and paced appropriately. I am patient, flexible and willing to adapt the lesson to suit your needs.
Dynamics are important: I aim for a supportive, positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing resilience.
With over 30 years of experience in both mainstream and SEND education, I have helped hundreds of students achieve strong results and, just as importantly, build confidence and curiosity about the world around them.
