Observational drawing is my passion. Learning to look and observe details takes time, concentration and decision making. Practice is key. Evaluating your work and working out how to improve is essential. Determination is important. A love of drawing will stay with you for life. Sometimes simple exercises can help and also learning how to choose what to draw is helpful. But tricks and technical skills are not always the answer. Enjoying the journey is a must. Start with a single object - man made or natural. As confidence grows expand your subject matter and materials. Don’t underestimate the power of pencil and paper. Sometimes less is more. There’s plenty of examples of artists’ drawings to inspire us too.
