My approach to tutoring is fully student-centred. I believe that every student learns differently, so I aim to adapt each session to their individual needs, pace, and preferred learning style.
At the start of each session, I ask the student what they would like to focus on—whether that’s revising classwork, working on exam questions, or tackling topics they find particularly difficult. This ensures the session is relevant, useful, and engaging for them.
I focus on building understanding, not just giving answers. I break down each topic into clear, manageable steps, helping students understand the logic behind the method. By doing this, I help them build the confidence to apply their knowledge independently.
During the session, I encourage students to actively engage with the material by trying problems themselves. I offer guidance and support along the way, using questions, hints, and explanations to develop their thinking.
My teaching is flexible—I use different techniques such as visual aids, worked examples, and real-life applications depending on what suits the student best. I always aim to make lessons feel approachable and encouraging.
Progress is reviewed regularly, and I help students set realistic goals to build confidence over time. Most importantly, I create a calm and non-judgemental learning space where mistakes are seen as opportunities to improve.
Even without formal tutoring experience, I bring enthusiasm, a solid grasp of the GCSE maths curriculum, and a strong commitment to helping students succeed on their own terms.
