My English lessons are carefully structured, engaging and fully tailored to each child’s needs. I place a strong emphasis on modelling, believing that children learn best when they can visualise and hear examples of excellent work. Every session is based of the child’s interests and focus points and ends with a set of targets for the following tuition session. It follows a three part format: I first model the task with clear explanations, then the child has a chance to model it back to me and finally to consolidate the learning and check their understanding we elaborate the focus of the session by working on a task together. This approach builds confidence, encouraging independence and creating secure foundations for real progress.
I also ensure that all resources are dyslexia-friendly using pastel backgrounds, clear fonts and chunked information to make learning inclusive for all children. Vocabulary development is a central focus of my sessions and i model the use of ambitious, subject related vocabulary throughout, helping children to extend their oracy skills before we begin to write.
In past experiences, this structured approach had been highly successful. I have observed children who once struggled with reading comprehension or creative writing blossom into confident, articulate learners. Mistakes are learning opportunities and every achievement is celebrated during my sessions. My main strengths align with building trusting relationships and setting SMART targets.
Through the level of consistency, enthusiasm and expert modelling, I elevate children’s genuine love for English and the desired skills needed to succeed.
