Regard the Chinese tuition, my teaching method and philosophy begin with sounds, helping students grasp the connection to Chinese. I follow the SOR (Science of Reading) pyramid structure in my teaching.

This is a progressive approach. At the very bottom is PA (Phonemic Awareness), so I teach students to recognize the sounds of each Mandarin phonetic symbol (bo, po, mo, fo).

Next is the phonetics stage, practicing various consonant and vowel combinations of the phonetic symbols.

Then, I build fluency by adding the actual Chinese characters and their meanings, enabling students to read characters, words, and sentences. I will add grammar explanations during the this reading fluency stage. When explaining Chinese characters, I would use radicals to tell the sources.

Further, I guide students to read classic texts, ultimately achieving a level of immersion in Chinese culture.

Completing this process allows students to move on to bilingual translation and creative work.

They will also develop strong Chinese listening and speaking skills.

I will use the bo-po-mp-fo chart(???????) and the SOR structure as assessment tools to determine the student's suitability and identify areas where pronunciation needs correction. Afterward, as long as the phonetic symbols are mastered solidly, the pronunciation and listening comprehension will naturally improve.
