hi, I have been teaching art in all its glorious manifestations for over twenty years, having successfully exhibited in the UK and internationally. I have created interesting, informative and creative classes to suit your learning needs as we do not all wear the same size shoes. I believe that everyone is unique and by understanding this we will work in a format that teaches and reaches your true potential.
I will meet you where you are at and together we learn the history of art to suit you. Learning the history of art is not boring, it is not stuffy, it is a practice which will allow you look at history as the world enfolds around you. Art history is the study of artistic expression from around the world, across cultures and through time.
When I first began learning about art history, I remember I wanted to understand one thing above all. I wanted to know the timeline. In other words, the grand story of one-style-followed-by-the next: Romanticism, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Cubism, and so on.
I had the sense that art history was like a relay-race of artists, each passing the baton on from one to another, building up a cause-and-effect chain of history and development. Was I right? we will learn these questions and many more in the lessons which you will be involved in.
We will look at the language of art, lines, colour, depth, shapes, shadows, contrast etc. Learning the jargon will allow you to develop your own language in the exploration of art; bringing confidence and an awareness for your journey as we explore the different ways to communicate with others.
I look forward to watching you unleash your hidden creativeness …..
