I have recently finished studying at the Institute of Planetary Materials, Okayama University. My PhD was focused on the geochemical properties of enstatite meteorites and how that relates to the solar nebula in the early, inner solar system.
Before traveling to Japan, I completed my MSc Mineral Resources at St Andrews University. My thesis was centered around the occurrence of silver in galena (lead ore) deposits and the economic benefits of both the silver and the lead.
My studies have given me the opportunity to further develop my interests in this ever-evolving and ever-changing world, bringing me closer to my goals of contributing to our future by exploring the core of our environment through its past. Research and field work have been some of the highlights of my study, enabling me to operate independently and in a group. Combined with working with ‘real world’ geological data and fossils, I have developed problem solving skills and the ability to look at things from a much wider perspective. Working on my undergraduate dissertation on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula and my field study in April 2017 in Spain on the Rio Tinto River greatly enhnced my field based skills, developing a more critical and analytical approach to study and research.
I have 3 years of prior tutoring experience working with a large range of students at different levels. My purpose here is to aid students in their understanding of a topic. Thus I am always open to questions and will help revise topics until they are understood comfortably. Different people learn different topics at different rates, especially when they are needing to study a large range of subjects. So I will commit to helping anyone that asks, and will always treat students and clients with respect and patience.
