My lessons will draw on my experience excelling in a truly world-class university. I strongly believe in the importance of small group teaching and tailored, thoughtful feedback in improving students' English skills - whether writing, speaking, or reading. As such, I would ask for a sample of your work (if handwritten, a photograph or scan would more than suffice) so that I can gauge the areas in which you need the most support. For GCSE and A Level students, I would look to build upon what you are already learning in classes, refining the skills you are developing while also pushing you to read and learn *beyond* the curriculum - which university admissions teams always look for. I would help you develop your writing style and your attention to grammar, your use of vocabulary and terminology, support your exam preparation, encourage wider reading, and support you through university admissions. I can be flexible with my time and my lessons - what you need is what you will get, and more! Whether that's help with understanding a particularly tricky passage in Shakespeare's Macbeth or a speech in George Orwell's 1984, or practice using writing techniques like DAFOREST or even improving time management - you need only ask!
For university students reading English Literature, I would offer essay writing clinics and guidance on what your lecturers/supervisors are looking for in your work. I would suggest wider reading options, both in terms of literary criticism and primary texts. Exam and dissertation preparation would also be an area where I could help.
