My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s individual needs, with a strong focus on building confidence as well as subject understanding. I typically begin by identifying any gaps in knowledge or areas of difficulty, then break topics down into manageable steps to ensure concepts are fully understood before moving on. Lessons are interactive rather than lecture-based, encouraging students to ask questions and explain their thinking so misconceptions can be addressed early. I use a mix of guided examples, independent practice, and exam-style questions (the most important!) to develop both core skills and exam technique.
I have a year and a half of tutoring experience with children aged between 12 and 18 for maths, physics, and chemistry. I am comfortable adapting my teaching style to suit different learning abilities and goals. I understand that many students feel anxious or lack confidence in these subjects, so I aim to create a calm and positive learning environment where mistakes are seen as part of the learning process. I also place emphasis on developing problem-solving skills and logical thinking, helping students understand the “why” behind methods rather than relying on memorisation alone.
Where appropriate, I provide summary notes, step-by-step methods, and optional practice questions to reinforce learning between lessons. I regularly review progress and adjust lesson plans to ensure steady improvement, whether the goal is catching up on content, improving exam performance, or achieving higher grades.
