My lessons are warm, structured, and genuinely collaborative. I always start by understanding exactly what you need support with — whether that’s essay writing, close reading, building arguments, analysing texts, understanding theory, or simply gaining confidence with English. Every student works differently, so each session is adapted to your pace, level, and learning style.
A typical lesson will begin with a brief check-in to clarify your goals for the hour. From there, we work through material step by step: unpacking difficult passages, modelling strong analytical writing, practising techniques, or restructuring an essay together. I’ll use clear examples, guided questions, and practical methods you can apply independently. Throughout, I’ll offer calm, constructive feedback designed to strengthen your thinking, not overwhelm you.
I draw on my BA in English Literature & Creative Writing and my First-Class MA in Critical & Cultural Theory from the University of Warwick. I have mentored GCSE, A-level, and university students for several years, helping them build confidence, improve their grades, and develop their own voice.
My teaching style is patient, friendly, and encouraging. I believe students learn best when they feel understood and able to ask questions without pressure. My aim is always the same: to help you become a clearer, more confident writer and thinker — and to make the process feel manageable, even enjoyable.
If you want structured guidance, a supportive atmosphere, and lessons tailored precisely to your needs, I’d be very happy to work with you.
