My name is Thomas Baker and I am an experienced teacher that enjoys delivering well-planned, well-organised lessons in fun dynamic way. I have worked at Universities in the UK, Italy, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia, from beginner to advanced level. This means classes are built on solid foundations that allow room for deviation and discussion. I have a great deal of experience of teaching, travelling and education and bring all of this experience to the classroom. I provide a positive structured space for learners of all levels to learn and grow. In general, I believe that language is a dynamic concept and in order to gain proficiency it is necessary to concentrate on the function rather than form, i.e., how and why we use language in context as opposed to grammatical exercises and explanations. I also believe that becoming an expert in any field involves studying topics that are meaningful and interesting and am able to animate and augment topics so that they 'come alive' in a variety of ways. Learners must be invested in a topic in order that they can proactively engage in the leaning process and achieve long-lasting success. I am flexible and adaptable, and can structure classes to suit all learning aims and styles. I also believe that books, television and films can be a valuable resource when learning a second language and look to include them as and when it is appropriate.
