Approach to Teaching Instrumental Music
When teaching others how to learn an instrument, I begin with the foundational knowledge of the instrument it's s parts, how to hold and care for it, and how to produce sound correctly. From there, we move into learning basic chords and strumming or playing techniques, depending on the instrument. I also introduce essential music theory concepts as needed to support practical understanding.
Each week, students are expected to learn and perform a song. This regular performance practice helps build confidence, improves technique, and encourages consistent progress. Over time, we will explore and learn songs from a wide variety of genres. This not only broadens musical exposure but also ensures students develop a wellrounded skill set adaptable to different styles of music.
