Since finishing university, graduating with a First in Mathematics, I began tutoring Spanish-speakers in English using my own lesson plan. This includes classes, in-class practice, and additional optional homework. I want to diversify what I tutor into the subject I understand best: Mathematics.
What I find to be the most optimal is using a mixture of theory and practice, with more emphasis on the practice, to understand how to use what we learn. This can be done with practice work I supply or work the student gives me that they are finding hard understanding. I like to focus on what students find difficult most, then explaining it in different ways to better adapt to their understanding.
