Tobechi Onyeka

My journey as a maths tutor began 12 years ago. After graduation from secondary school, I went on to work with organizations who needed teachers to work with students living with Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD) in Maths and Sciences.


In my post university years, I took up private home teaching as a part time career to help weaker students who can't learn as fast in the classroom environment. I also worked with tutorial centers which in my country are where you can find the largest concentration of students living with Specific learning difficulties. My mission was not just to teach, but to pass my love for mathematics to students who are in dire need of it. Handling this class of students is very challenging but with a lot of patience , a good number of them usually turn out to become exceptional students. I have personally helped over 40 students build their school averages from a mere pass mark to good consistent credits and even excellence in some cases . My best part is building a healthy relationship between me and my students because I believe a happy mind creates a good environment for learning and assimilation. I also help every child I work with to see the relevance of the taught subject as a functional skill required for survival and not just for pass marks. Learning is a continuous process and i like to utilize every opportunity i get to further enhance my skills in teaching

Teaching has formed a core part of my existence. It always interests me to help people improve their Education standards with my expert opinion and guidance. I hope you will give me an opportunity to make that difference too.
