I am a native Russian speaker, born and raised in the language, and currently completing a degree in International Relations at Queen Mary University of London, where I also spent a year studying abroad at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. My lessons cover both the Russian language and the broader post-Soviet cultural context that gives it meaning, because understanding how people speak is inseparable from understanding how they think and where they come from.
Each lesson is tailored to the individual student. Whether you are a complete beginner learning the Cyrillic alphabet or someone with existing knowledge looking to deepen your fluency and cultural literacy, we start from where you are. Sessions combine language work with real cultural material — film, literature, history and current affairs — so that progress feels meaningful rather than mechanical. I adapt the pace, content and structure based on your goals, and no two lessons look exactly the same.
My approach is grounded in Carol Dweck's Growth Mindset framework. I do not believe language ability is fixed or that some people are simply "not good at languages." What matters is the right environment, consistent effort and a teacher who meets you at your level without judgement. I focus on building genuine confidence alongside practical skill, so that students leave each session feeling they have made real progress rather than simply covered material.
Beyond the language itself, I bring a genuine passion for post-Soviet culture, history and identity. For students who want to go deeper than grammar and vocabulary, there is a rich world to explore together.
