I have over 30 years of teaching experience in a broad range of learning environments. I started in primary schools and for the last 20 years, I have been providing educational workshops in community settings, online and in schools. I have also trained teachers in using film in the classroom as a tool for teaching literacy. Clearly, the screen, is now the primary source of information, however, the screen alone cannot provide a complete learning experience, feedback is essential, interaction with people is essential.

As a teacher, I take great pride in how I bring creativity to learning. I am a creative person having made over 15 short films, many paintings and hundreds of songs. We learn by doing, listening and watching is not enough. I ensure that learners have embedded their knowledge by creating lessons that involve action.

Another important aspect of learning is feedback to the teacher. From the beginning of my career, I have always asked the learners "how am I doing?". I will always be learning. I love learning and teaching is a great way to learn.

I like to draw and paint. All children, below the age of six, enjoy these activities, but by the age of ten, many have decided that they cannot draw. Something happens in schools to stop the enjoyment of making images! What is it? This question is fundamental to all aspects of learning, not just drawing. My intention, with teaching, is to find ways to return to that act of creation, to the pleasure in learning.
