I am an experienced and enthusiastic English teacher with almost 20 years of teaching experience, including senior roles as Head of English, Deputy Head of English and Head of A-level English. I have taught students across a wide range of abilities and backgrounds, specialising in GCSE and A-level English Language and Literature, and have a strong track record of helping students achieve excellent results.

My tutoring approach is supportive, engaging and tailored to each individual. I believe that every student can make meaningful progress when they receive clear explanations, appropriate challenge and the confidence to believe in their own abilities. I take time to understand each student's strengths, areas for development and personal goals before creating lessons that address their specific needs.

I am particularly skilled at making difficult concepts accessible. Whether we are exploring a challenging literary text, developing analytical writing or improving examination technique, I break learning into manageable steps, model effective responses and provide constructive, specific feedback. I also help students understand exactly what examiners are looking for, so they can approach assessments with greater confidence and independence.

Above all, I aim to make English enjoyable and rewarding. I want students to leave each session not only with stronger knowledge and skills, but also feeling more confident, motivated and capable of achieving their potential.
