I have assisted a 7 year old in homework assistance for English. As well as a 9 year old in homework assistance.

My lessons are based very simple and easy, I begin with introducing the lesson and what we going to start with, ask the students if they had any battles with the previous weeks homework and assist firstly on that before moving on.
The second part of the lesson will be based on new content this could range from different things such as colours, new words, animals, conversational, sentence construction etc. The students in the lesson will be able to ask questions to the teacher about anything they unsure of or need better explanations. The student will also have time in the lesson to complete an activity that the teacher has given to them to do. Once the activity is completed we will go over the answers or hear what the student has said in the activity and correct and guide the student from there.
The last part of the lesson would be closing the lesson up, playing a fun game that involves content from the lesson before students may leave.

This way the lesson is set out is to ensure that the student gets involved and feels as though they have a say and a voice in the lesson. I always encourage students to ask for help when needed as there is never a thing called a stupid question in my classroom. I intended for all my classes to be fun and happy!
