What My Lessons Are Like:

My lessons are designed to be clear, structured, and confidence-building, with a strong focus on helping you understand why Maths works, not just how to get the answer.

Each session follows a simple, effective 5 step structure:

1) Check-in & warm-up – A short starter to revisit previous topics and ease you in.

2) Clear explanation of new concepts – I break topics down step by step, using real examples and visual methods where helpful.

3) Guided practice – We work through questions together so you build confidence as you learn.

4) Independent exam-style problems – You apply your knowledge under gentle guidance, preparing you for real GCSE questions.

5) Progress recap – We finish with a quick review of what you’ve achieved and what we’ll tackle next.

Content & Lesson Dynamics

My teaching style is friendly, encouraging, and personalised. I focus on:

1) Strengthening foundations where needed. We revisit any topics you’re unsure about — for example, fractions, algebra basics, or rearranging equations — so you feel confident before moving on to harder content.

2) Boosting problem-solving confidence. We practise breaking problems into smaller steps so even tricky questions feel manageable, like turning a multi-step word problem into simple, clear parts.

3) Building exam technique. I show you how to approach GCSE-style questions, manage timing, and avoid common mistakes — for example, spotting what the question is really asking and choosing the right method quickly.

4) Developing strong reasoning skills. We work on explaining your thinking and understanding the “why” behind each method — essential for higher-mark questions and grades 7–9.

5) Using real-world examples from my financial and consultancy background to show how Maths actually matters. For instance, we might explore how percentages and ratios are used to compare project costs, or how graphs and formulas help make decisions in real construction projects.

Every lesson feels purposeful — relaxed enough for you to ask questions, but structured enough to ensure you’re always moving forward.

Experience You Benefit From:

I hold a degree in Mathematics from Liverpool John Moores University and have two years of classroom teaching experience, helping students across all year groups progress toward strong GCSE results.

In addition, I’ve spent five years working as a financial consultant on major construction projects, which allows me to bring practical, real-world applications of Maths into my teaching. This often helps students understand concepts more clearly and stay motivated.

A Personalised Learning Journey

From our first lesson, I take time to understand:

Your goals, strengths, topics you find challenging, and the most effective approach to learning for you.

I then create a tailored learning plan so you always know what we’re working on and why. You’ll see your progress from week to week — and approach your exams with confidence.
