I use a blend of resources including high-quality vocabulary and grammar sheets and always provide strong examples of accurate structures, so that tutees can feel confident in what is correct and how to achieve the same high level of accuracy in their own work. I use target language wherever possible, particularly with speaking activities, to build listening and comprehension skills as well as learner's resilience. For highly specific learning objectives and explaining the finer points of grammar, it is sometimes necessary to use English to ensure complete understanding.

I am highly familiar with the format of Edexcel and AQA exam specifications for languages and I use a mixture of their own assessment resources as well as my own, to build confidence in how to approach the different parts of a languages exam successfully. I have taught and mentored learners of all ability levels and I pride myself on my patience and ability to support learners at all stages of their learning. My track record includes enabling tutees with additional learning needs to be successful. My philosophy is that anyone can learn a language and make good progress.

For more able learners who enjoy extra challenge, I introduce higher-level grammar concepts (A-Level or University level grammar structures such as the conditional perfect in French and German, as well as advanced passive structures ). These structures can be used on top of the required grammar and vocabulary to add an extra "wow" factor in exams and increase the chances of attaining the highest grades.
