Throughout the years that I worked in Turkey I came to the realisation that students were often pretty good at 'text book' English but lacked the confidence when it came to actually speaking English. I would always advise my students, that were of all ages, that it is always ok to make a mistake... as that is the way we all learn. Gaining confidence with strengthening communication skills with practical English creates happier students too.
