I was an online GCSE Maths and Science tutor from March 2021-May 2023. In the first lesson, I ask the student what topics they struggle with to try and understand the students' weaknesses and ask the students what they want to do at the start of each lesson (i.e. go through past papers, go through a topic worksheet, or explain the topic beforehand before starting on any worksheet).

I aim to make the lessons as engaging as possible by trying to get the students to go through the questions and explain their thought process at each step of their working. Then, if they made a mistake in their working out, I try to give them prompts so that they can deduce where they may have made a mistake in their working out process. I believe this enables the student to learn from their mistakes and helps to develop an understanding of the topic.
