I have 5 years pure teaching experience but 35 years experience as a psychologist where psycho-education was very much part of my approach to empower people to become emotionally more independent, confident and competent in their every day life but also often in their work life. I believe knowledge is power, and love to impart whatever knowledge I may have on the level of the student.

I use a structured approach where relevant but also an interactive approach where the student relates how they perceive a specific topic, then guiding them to better understanding and individual development of a subject.

I invariably use a visually based approach (pictures and schematic designs) to compliment the auditory information as well as, where possible, other senses like the tactile sense (letting the student touch or feel something) to integrate information into memory.

Besides English I am also proficient at a professional level in Afrikaans.

If there are foreign language speakers who want to become more proficient in English to enhance their careers, I would love to assist them in that process as I am a patient person who, through my training as a psychologist, believe in unconditional positive regard and empathy toward the student. I also believe there should be a sincerity or genuineness in the tutor's interaction with the student.
