My lessons are friendly, interactive and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I know that everyone learns differently, so I always try to explain things in a way that makes sense to them rather than expecting everyone to follow the same approach.

I usually start by understanding which topics a student feels confident with and which areas they find more challenging. From there, I structure lessons around their goals, whether that’s improving their overall understanding, working towards a particular grade or preparing for upcoming exams.

During lessons, I like to break down difficult concepts into manageable steps before working through examples together. I encourage students to have a go at questions themselves, ask as many questions as they need and not worry about making mistakes. I believe making mistakes is an important part of learning!

For students preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels or entrance exams, I also focus on past paper questions, exam technique and understanding what examiners are looking for. Having personally sat the 11+ and 13+ exams and achieved a scholarship, I can also share my own experience of preparing for competitive school entrance exams.

I have two years of experience tutoring online, both one-to-one and in groups. I use a trackpad to write out calculations and explain methods on screen in real time, so students can follow each step clearly. I have a good online teaching setup and can teach through Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet.

Most importantly, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and genuinely enjoy their lessons. My goal is to help them become more confident, independent and capable mathematicians, rather than just memorising methods to pass an exam.
