I am a qualified secondary school teacher with experience in further education, where I assisted adults in improving their communications skills. I enjoy seeing the improvement in my students, with their increased confidence in speaking & using a wider vocabulary correctly in their written work.

Language skills are critical for developing potential to take advantage of opportunities in the workplace, but they are also important in maintaining good relationships with family & colleagues. In the modern world of online meetings & emails, an ability to understand the crucial role of spoken & written English is key to success & an inevitable increase in personal self-esteem.

Good communication is attained through practice & experience.
A strong grasp of grammatical principles & a wide vocabulary are critical to the effective use of English but, by developing a love of the language, the student is set free from the perceived grind of mastering the skills required. That is my goal: learning should be a lifelong ambition &, as such, not be viewed as a chore.

My lessons will be structured to include humour, novel & innovative ways to speak & write English, crosswords, word games, excerpts from books by respected writers, poetry & videos of speakers, stand-up comics, presenters & reporters: in this way, students can experience a wide range of proven communication skills.

All teaching will be appropriate & scaled to student's age, ability & previous experience. Lessons will include the use of grammar: nouns, descriptive adjectives & adverbs, verbs tenses including the conditional, sentence construction & punctuation. Students' progress will be monitored by multi-choice tests, comprehension & spoken presentations. Success in these exercises will encourage the students to continue their improvement.
