My approach as an English GCSE tutor is centred on building confidence, developing skills, and helping each student reach their full potential. I believe that every student can make progress in English when they are given the right support, encouragement, and guidance tailored to their individual needs in a non-judgmental and friendly environment.

I aim to create a positive, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their own ideas. I understand that English can sometimes feel challenging, particularly when students struggle with analysing texts, understanding poetry, or expressing their ideas clearly. My role is to break these challenges down into manageable steps, making learning accessible and enjoyable.

I take a personalised approach to tutoring, adapting my lessons to suit each student's strengths, weaknesses, learning style, and exam goals. Whether we are exploring Shakespeare, analysing unseen poetry, developing essay-writing skills, or improving creative and transactional writing, I focus on helping students understand not just what to do, but how and why to do it.

A key part of my teaching is developing students' exam technique and encouraging independent thinking. I teach practical strategies for structuring responses, selecting relevant evidence, analysing language and structure, and meeting assessment objectives. Through regular practice, constructive feedback, and clear explanations, students can develop the skills and confidence needed to approach their exams successfully.

Above all, I want my students to feel motivated, capable, and proud of their progress. I aim to foster a genuine appreciation of English while equipping students with the knowledge, resilience, and confidence they need to achieve their GCSE English Language and Literature goals.
