Steve Thomas

Steve tutored our year 9 son for 7 months, helping him catch up with the maths curriculum. He took the time to get to know him and understand his goals. While initially a reluctant learner, the rapport built and Steve’s patient but engaging teaching style has helped our son make rapid progress, securing all the relevant learning and moving up a set in maths. We are really grateful to Steve for his support.

Steve is highly skilled at engaging kids and actually helping transform them from reluctant mathematicians to confident ones. He does this with a combination of humour, easy to remember tricks and praise. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Steve is absolutely wonderful, and I honestly don’t know where we would be without him! Our neurodivergent Son has severe anxiety regarding school and finds it very hard to focus on learning because of this. Steve is so patient, kind and understanding and the only person our Son trusts to teach him, as he knows that Steve won’t rush him or put pressure on him. Steve has a way of instilling confidence in our Son. R always leaves the lesson taller, with a huge smile on his face and feeling clever! I cannot recommend Steve highly enough.

I had steve to help my child with his English work. Steve is very friendly and soon made my child feel relaxed and comfortable with him. He made sure to make the sessions with my son as fun as possible to keep him engaged. He would would always have a chat after to let us know how the session went and to make sure we were happy. We would deffiently reccomend Steve to others as my son made a lot of progress with steve and is now where he needs to be accademically. Thankyou ??

I would fully recommend Steve, he’s reliable, hard working and a great communicator when it has come to supporting my son. I have hired Steve to support my son with maths, my 12 year old son really looks forward to the tuition and has really benefited. Steve helped my son during a period of time when he was being home-schooled due to difficulties within school. My son has ASD and Steve really helped to turn his life around, allowing him to return to main stream school with confidence. Prior to Steve helping him he could barely write and had done very little work at all for almost a year. He went on to pass 11+ and is sitting GCSEs next year with good grades predicted. Steve not only taught him lots but also made him feel capable again. We cannot thank him enough.

Steve has been outstanding for my daughter. He has been working with her for approximately 4 years now, initially with English and Maths and now just Maths. He has taken her from being behind in class to now being in top sets. More importantly her confidence has grown immeasurably. She previously had the idea she wasn't good at things and was feeling down on herself. Now she is full of positivity about her ability and believes in herself which is incredible to see. Steve makes the lessons fun and she looks forward to them each week. Although she doesn't need them anymore, it is her who wants to continue them which is why we have kept going. Steve is hard working, fun, connects with her and genuinely cares about her. I couldn't recommend him enough.

Steve is an outstanding tutor. Professional, supportive and endlessly encouraging, he built trust and confidence with our daughter from day one. His ability to understand our child and tailor his teaching, using a wide variety of resources and techniques, using years of experience brought out her absolute best. Thanks to Steve, our child has flourished, achieved incredible SATs and KS3 maths and English results and genuinely loves maths. We are so grateful to have had him in our lives for four incredible years.

Steve has been giving tutoring to my son for several years now. He is absolutely wonderful, he connects with Isaac well and adapts to Isaac's way of learning, helping build confidence and learn in a way schools don't offer for children that have learning difficulties. I value and respect Steve deeply. Isaac has learned with Steve so well, enabling him to get better scores in tests at school, breaking things down for my son. I will always be grateful to Steve & wish he could teach my boy full time!

Steve has been working with my son for 3 years now and has had a transformative effect on his academic skills.
