I teach using the interest of the child as that helps them to engage with what is being taught. It's important to understand what the child is struggling with to incorporate it in their tutored learning and to strengthen the mathematical constructs that they already know and apply this to areas that they need help with where possible.
It's important for them to have a fun and stress free learning environment so I will do my best to taylor tutoring sessions to best support their learning style and interests. Thus improving their math skills and confidence in problem solving and understanding the world of maths.
I have experience working woth young children both in a nursery and pre school setting and in an put of school setting such as Rainbows. And so have and understanding of how to engage with children in an appropriate yet exiting manner that will help the child want to learn and will help them develop a trusted and professional relationship with me.
Within school I achieved a GCSE grade 5 in mathematics, whilst taking the Higher paper. This grade proves that I have a strong understanding and capability in maths. In addition I achieved a grade of 6-5 in science and a merit in applied science. Although not directly math based these subjects incorporate skills and knowledge through applying mathematics into my work. Furthermore I'm currently an undergraduate psychology student which also utilises mathematical skills and understanding through carrying out complex statistical measurements to understand data.
