Stacey Williams

I've worked for over 15 years as a fashion designer, for some great British brands including Top Shop, Jigsaw, Paul Smith and Liberty. I've done mainly womens and childrenswear but also some menswear. I have insight and understanding into the whole process of designing a collection - research for inspiration, drawing, pattern cutting and construction. I'm a great communicator and will always aim to impart new skills in a fun and easily undertandable way; I also love to stretch my students skills by encouraging and challenging them. I can also teach sewing. I believe it's hard to stay motivated unless a teacher brings a positive attitude and a sense of fun to their lessons. I can give a student the attention they need to really think about how to express their talents in a way that makes them a great asset to the fashion industry. I'm a good team player and love to inspire people by listening to their ideas and suggesting options of which direction they should take them. I appreciate that students learn in different ways and always attempt to tailor my teaching to the individual. I have a good level of cultural awareness so can always suggest inspiring artists, films, places that will feed into an individual's research process. I have a high standard of presentation, and can give my students the skills to optimise the way their work comes across so that their ideas are clearly understood. I'm a real people person and am always interested in what students have to say and their individual point of view.
