As a QTS-qualified teacher with 6 years of classroom experience and 4 years of 1-to-1 tutoring, I have designed a lesson format that mimics the best teaching practices but is completely tailored to your individual pace. My lessons are interactive, highly structured, and heavily focused on the GCSE AQA specification.
Here is what you can expect in a typical 60-minute session:
• The First 5 Minutes (The Warm-Up): We start with quick-fire retrieval questions. This activates your memory from previous lessons and builds the long-term recall needed for the final AQA exams.
• Core Concept Breakdown: I use digital whiteboards, visual models, and real-world analogies to break down complex topics into bite-sized, manageable pieces. No confusing jargon—just clear, simple explanations.
• AQA Required Practicals & Skills: We will explicitly study the AQA-required practicals, data analysis, and maths skills (which make up a large percentage of the exam marks).
• Exam Practice & Exam Technique: We don't just learn the theory; we apply it. We work through real AQA past paper questions together. I will teach you how to decode "command words" (like explain, evaluate, or compare) so you know exactly what the examiner is looking for to award full marks.
• Review & Reflection: We wrap up by reviewing what you’ve mastered and identifying any areas that need a quick top-up next time.
My tutoring style is encouraging, patient, and highly focused on building confidence. There is no such thing as a silly question in my sessions—we work as a team to get you to your target grade!
