When tutoring students I emphasise the importance of catering to each individual. I always conduct initial assessments to identify areas of weakness, and use these findings as the focus of subsequent sessions. I also prioritise practice of exam technique, especially for 8/16 mark questions, as these hold a significant weight overall in the exam.
A normal session would consist of a short quiz starter activity, followed by revision on a specific topic, and finally finishing with practice exam questions.
As an undergraduate psychology student, I have a strong personal interest in the field which would be portrayed through my sessions. My study of the subject beyond A-levels has further strengthened my knowledge and understanding, which I would utilise when explaining concepts to students in a clear and understandable manner.
I would also be able to give first hand advice on the experience of studying psychology at degree level, including the application process for students who are considering it as a career path.
