Hi, I’m Sophie, a qualified secondary maths teacher with over five years of classroom experience in primary and secondary schools. My lessons are friendly, supportive, and structured to suit your goals. I begin each session by checking in on how you’re feeling about maths that day, followed by a quick warm-up activity to build confidence and get your brain into maths mode. We then focus on your specific areas for improvement, breaking down topics into clear, manageable steps to ensure you fully understand before moving on.
I use exam-style questions throughout so you can see how your knowledge applies in assessments, but I also explain concepts in simple ways, using real-life examples wherever possible to make maths feel relevant and easier to grasp. I adapt my teaching style depending on how you learn best – whether that’s through visual explanations, talking it through, or lots of practice questions together.
At the end of each lesson, we review what you’ve learnt, note any areas to revisit, and set optional short tasks to keep you progressing between sessions. My students often say they feel calmer and more confident after our lessons, and that they start to see maths as something they can actually do.
I believe everyone can succeed in maths with the right support. My aim is to help you achieve your target grade – and maybe even start enjoying maths along the way. I tutor students from Year 3 up to GCSE, foundation or higher, and tailor each lesson to your needs.
