Either in-person or online, I will make a personalised curriculum based on your individual needs. What a typical first session looks like: the student will me what they are struggling with, then we will do a trial lesson so you can see if I am a good fit for you. If we decide to move forward, depending on your needs, I will design a syllabus for the upcoming weeks, then confirm it with you. Typically, students will bring coursework so I can see what they're focusing on at school that week and we will work on it it together. For older or more advanced students or those not currently attending school or university, the personalised syllabus will become essential. For all students, I will also bring supplemental readings and suggest books for the student to read if necessary. For example, I might bring in some of my own writing, altered to include grammatical or spelling mistakes, and have the student correct it. For more advanced students, we would spend the first few sessions discussing story structure, how to write effective characters, etc., then I would have you start writing your own story. Alternatively, you could bring me something you've already been writing. I would provide feedback, and we would workshop it together.
