I have had 50 years of business experience mainly in Project Management and Business Management both in delivery and also training. My business exposure ranges from well known companies like Fujitsu Services, Microsoft, Jaguar Landrover and several Universities, I love helping people learn so it will be a privilege to assist foreign students and businessmen or businesswomen to learn the English language.

I have travelled the world meeting many people from different cultures and speaking different languages. It has struck me that many went out of their way to be kind to me by speaking in English as best they could but on a few occasions we had to use sign language which was certainly fun and sometimes very amusing.

My lessons will focus on your need - whether at beginner level, intermediate or advanced or for use in School , at University or in business. So my approach will flex based on what you need.

I believe people learn by:
1. Visualising - using images or photos to associate words to describe the image.
2. Getting used to hearing themselves speak in the English language and learning by repetition
3. Writing English in sentence format - paying attention to spelling, grammar and the context - who they are speaking to, whether they understand the subject matter and the level of comprehension of the hearer.

If you are at University level for example then it is likely that you have at least a reasonable level of English comprehension but it may be more difficult to grasp the technical terms in use and so we would go on a journey together to find ways of expressing the essentials to demonstrate your knowledge in your own native language and transfer that knowledge into English.

If you just need someone to help you to "get started" in understanding, speaking or writing English I can flex my approach to your needs.

Because I have much experience in Business and also have teaching/lecturing students from another country - both Beijing and Nanjing Universities - as well as at Reading University - I am used to a varied level of comprehension.

For me it is the journey we would go on together that matters and will be most enjoyable.
