My students would describe me as equal parts tenacious and relentlessly positive; I love and have always loved my job. In every teaching capacity I work in, I insist on enthusiasm and motivation, making it my goal to make sure my students leave their time with me loving literature and writing as much as I do!
Having been teaching for nearly 10 years, my current role is Deputy Head of English at a large state school in Birmingham, with my specific responsibility being to manage KS5 (AQA A Level English Literature and Eduqas EPQ) as well as to line manage KS3 and teach my own Y10 and Y11 classes.
My approach to tutoring has been modelled over years of establishing what works best for students in a 1:1 setting, taking the best bits of my classroom practice and tailoring them to what the students I tutor need in terms of content, metacognitive strategies and pedagogy in general.
