Hi, I’m Shlok, an offer holder for Economics & Management from the University of Oxford, and somebody with a true passion for Mathematics and Economics.
My tutoring lessons are built on mutual respect, curiosity, and a passion for learning - not on traditional classroom dynamics. I don’t believe in rigid hierarchies; instead, I treat my students as individuals with unique perspectives and potential. We learn with each other, not just from each other.
That said, I take the content I teach very seriously. Every lesson is delivered with precision and clarity, ensuring that every concept is thoroughly understood and nothing is left vague or confusing. I make it a priority to use every resource available - whether online tools, in-person materials, or interactive platforms - to enhance the learning experience. Academic rigour has been the backbone of my educational success to date, allowing me to achieve perfect 9s in my GCSEs and predicted to achieve 4A*s in my A-Levels - this is something will never go understated in my classroom. Good behaviour and intrinsic motivation is the key to attainment and progress, and I make sure that all of my students understand this - allowing them to extract the most they can from my tutoring sessions.
I’m also always available to my students outside of our scheduled sessions, because I know that questions and challenges don’t follow a timetable. One of the biggest advantages I bring to tutoring is that I was a student not too long ago myself. I remember exactly what it’s like to be on the other side of the desk - frustrated, confused, or even bored, and that empathy shapes everything I do. It helps me connect, communicate, and ultimately teach in a way that really resonates. Education and learning knows no bounds, and I am willing to put in just as much as my students do in order to provide them with the effort they truly deserve from their educators. Both of my parents being accomplished teachers has instilled a drive to teach with integrity and humility within me, and these are traits that I wish to confer to my students too, traits they can carry forward into their own lives too.
My goal is to provide more than just lessons; I want to create a space where students feel supported, understood, and empowered to succeed. I care deeply about doing the best work I can, because I know what a difference the right support can make.
