My lessons are typically broken into three clear phases: introduction, guided practice, and real-world application. We start by reviewing key concepts using simple explanations and relatable examples. I make sure every student understands the “why” behind the topic before diving into the “how.” Whether it’s break-even analysis, contribution per unit, or Excel formulas, I connect each topic to real-life retail scenarios so learners can see the relevance and usefulness.
During guided practice, I walk students through step-by-step examples, encouraging questions and discussion. I use visual aids, spreadsheets, and interactive tasks to reinforce understanding. For instance, when teaching depreciation or bad debts, I’ll show how these affect a business’s financial health and simulate how they appear in basic accounting records.
The final part of each lesson focuses on applying what we’ve learned. Students work on short tasks or mini-projects—like calculating profit margins for a mock store or using Excel to track sales and costs. I provide feedback that’s constructive and encouraging, helping learners grow in both skill and confidence.
My experience includes mastering GCSE and A-level maths and economics, and applying those skills to retail and customer service contexts. I understand how intimidating numbers can be, so I focus on making lessons friendly, clear, and empowering. Every session is a step toward real-world readiness and personal growth.
