I shape my lessons entirely around what my students need, and I am happy to change this within a session if it is required. I teach to mastery, making sure that and end result goes further than just correct answers - my students will be fully confident in the process.
I have worked with SEN children, children who struggle with emotion-based school avoidance, and with those who have english as an additional language. Most of my experience comes from teaching primary school age children, however I studied English Language at university and have the comprehensive understanding of English to be able to teach secondary school.
I aim to foster a love of learning, a high level of self belief, and encourage perseverance - regardless of age or ability!
While my lessons include a high level of flexibility, the broader structure focuses on a gradual progression of difficulty, starting with recapping previous learning, and ending with a review of the session. I am happy to provide personalised resources for outside of sessions as well as support for parents to enable them to work alongside their student.
I want to make the school system just as accessible for parents as I will for their children, whether this is planning or providing activities, suggesting homework or behaviour methods, or including parent-child work within the sessions.
I understand that learning goes so much further than a student in a classroom; it is experience, support and enjoyment.
