Grounded in real-world accountancy, with over 7 years of teaching and over 20 years of finance experience.
As a university lecturer with over seven years of experience teaching both teenagers and adults, in a range of subjects, and a solid professional background in the finance industry, I offer learners a practical, engaging approach to accountancy. My teaching bridges the gap between classroom theory and how numbers work in real life—whether you're studying for qualifications or aiming to feel more confident in the workplace.
My lessons are interactive and hands-on, designed to make accounting concepts accessible, relevant, and even enjoyable. You can expect:
- Clear, structured explanations of accountancy principles tailored to GCES adn A Levels in accounting, and AAT Levels 2–4.
- Realistic case studies, like preparing the accounts for a fictional start-up or analysing the financial health of a small business
- Applied use of Excel, including practical tasks like building budgets, preparing financial statements, and using formulas and pivot tables for financial analysis
- Creative tools to bring concepts to life, such as using the board game Monopoly to explain double-entry bookkeeping
In fact, Monopoly is a favourite in my teaching practice, as it can be tailored to create a real life example of recording the accounts for a start up business.
