Depending on the level that the student I am teaching, I like the start of with making them comfortable allowing them to tell me the type of teaching style they prefer. I usually gauge whether a student is more written capable or speaking capable and from there I choose the path that I believe the student will feel the most confident and courage as well as excitement when learning the language.
