My lessons are structured, clear, and focused on helping students make steady progress at a pace that works for them. I begin by understanding what the student already knows, what they find challenging, and what they are working towards, whether that is improving confidence, mastering key topics, or preparing for an exam.
Each lesson is planned with a clear focus. We usually start by reviewing previous work or addressing any questions from school, then move into new content or targeted practice. I explain methods step by step, using examples to make ideas easier to understand, and I encourage students to talk through their thinking so I can spot any misconceptions early.
For GCSE Maths, lessons focus on strengthening core skills, improving accuracy, and learning how to approach exam style questions confidently. I spend time modelling methods clearly, practising questions together, and then allowing students to work independently with support where needed. For 11+ preparation, lessons include a mix of topic revision, problem solving, and timed practice to help students become comfortable with the exam format and expectations.
I adapt my teaching style to suit each learner. Some students benefit from slower explanations and repeated practice, while others need more challenge or exam technique refinement. I aim to create a calm, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as this is often when the most progress happens.
Outside of lessons, I encourage good study habits and clear organisation, and I am happy to give guidance on what students can practise between sessions. My goal is to help students feel more confident in their ability, develop strong understanding, and approach their learning with less anxiety and more independence
