Hello! I'm Shan, a friendly online Maths tutor working with UK children from early numeracy right through to GCSE foundation. My goal is simple: to make every lesson the most enjoyable part of your child's week — and the part where they quietly grow in confidence.
A bit about me: I graduated with First Class Honours in Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, where I also taught undergraduate lab sessions as a Visiting Instructor. I'm currently studying for my MSc at Robert Gordon University, UK, so I stay closely connected to UK academic standards and the curriculum your child is working with.
Every learner starts with a short, friendly skills assessment. There's no pass or fail — it simply helps me understand where your child is comfortable, where the gaps are, and what they enjoy most. From there, I build a learning plan tailored just for them.
Lessons run online over video call, with a shared digital whiteboard so we can write, draw, and play together in real time. For ages 3–9, I keep things playful and visual: number games, counting activities, colourful examples, and short bursts of practice to keep little minds engaged. For ages 10–15, lessons take a more structured shape — worked examples, guided practice, exam-style questions, and clear explanations of why a method works, not just how.
I move at your child's pace. We celebrate small wins, take breaks when needed, and never rush past something they're not ready for. After each lesson, I share a short update with parents so you know exactly what we've covered and what's coming next.
Whether your child is just learning to count or preparing for their GCSEs, I'd love to help them build the kind of confidence in maths that lasts well beyond the classroom.
