Hey! I’ve been a tutor for 6 years and truly enjoy it. My lessons range and move at the pace of the student and with the students interest in mind. The overall goal is to make sure something is understood well before we can move onto the next lesson. For younger kids I like to find characters they enjoy and games they play to base lessons around, this helps keeps the kids interest while we figure out the best learning style for them. For older students, I enjoy asking them where they believe they need help or where they’d like to improve so we can set goals and meet them together. I often use many resources from PowerPoint presentations, explanations, discussions, YouTube videos, and homework. Homework can be a good tool to test if we really understand material, if gives an opportunity to look at work without help and use your own knowledge to complete it, which can be a deeper signal on if something has been fully understood in a lesson. I also help people with homework and assignments that they have already been assigned in school, this can help them understand how to better their work they have already done so in the future they know what to look for and add to similar projects. Overall, I enjoy working with students and learning from each other and about each other, creating fun ways to learn and seeing my students understand something better than they did before is fulfilling.
