Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to apply for the online Art & Design Tutor position. I am currently an A-level student at Northgate Sixth Form studying Art, Photography and Computer Science, and I bring hands-on experience teaching and mentoring younger students, plus strong practical skills in Adobe Photoshop and digital imaging. I’m confident I can help your students build both creative technique and confident, independent practice — whether that’s traditional drawing and composition or digital workflows and photo editing.

Over the past two years I’ve worked regularly as a Student Ambassador and volunteer mentor. In my “Photography Buddies” sessions I lead workshops, organise practical tasks, upload and manage imagery, and give constructive, friendly feedback to groups of GCSE students. I’ve also mentored programming and technical concepts in my “Computer Science Buddies” role, which taught me how to explain complex ideas clearly and adapt my approach for learners with different skill levels. My volunteer work in art-therapy programmes has further developed my patience and ability to encourage students who are shy or anxious about creative tasks.

In addition to classroom mentoring, I have practical experience designing and delivering creative projects: I contributed to my school magazine by designing the cover and layout and managing associated social media; and as a Social Media Ambassador at Gizmo I researched trends, used analytics to refine content, and learned how to present visual work effectively to an audience. These experiences make me comfortable teaching online — preparing clear lesson plans, sharing step-by-step demonstrations, giving timely written and verbal feedback, and using digital tools to showcase student work.
