I have taught undergraduate students at university, guiding them through two different BA modules, and my teaching style is largely focused on 'facilitating'. As a student, you know a lot more than you think you do, and I want to build that confidence and self-belief in you. No questions are stupid questions; if you need help with something, then it's worth us untangling together. I always aim that my teaching atmosphere is one where you feel comfortable and supported, not where you need your guard up at all times.
I structure my sessions around a set of key questions which we discuss, bringing a framework to my teaching, but I also want to make it clear that you as a student are more than welcome to bring your own questions that you want to focus on - as I said, facilitating. I am here to teach you, but I am also here to guide you in your academic journey, and that includes feeding your own curiosity too. I don't like teaching with powerpoint presentations, as I feel it creates too much of a classroom dynamic instead of a one-on-one 'learning via discussion' session; and I also feel that it creates too rigid a structure.
If you want to learn, and want guiding through A-Level texts, but also want a tutor who is flexible and more than happy for you to decide the area of focus of a session, then I'm the right tutor for you. I will be firm when I need to be, but I strongly believe that the key to success is not through superiority; it's through you as a student feeling I am an approachable person to help you.
